5 Nav Launcher goes through a reasonably complex decision process when launching an application, and if you are having any difficulties with the wrong program or version being launched it may help you to understand this process.
To select which application to launch:
- If there are one or more programs with the correct CreatorID and the correct database name on internal memory, launch the one with the highest version number
- If there are one or more programs with the correct CreatorID on internal memory, launch the one with the highest version number
- If Card 1 is present and contains a program in
\PALM\Launcher with the correct CreatorID and the correct database name, launch it
- If Card 2 is present and contains a program in
\PALM\Launcher with the correct CreatorID and the correct database name, launch it
- Give up
To launch a program from card:
- Copy all files in
\PALM\Launcher with the same CreatorID as the program to internal memory
- Launch the executable from internal memory
To clean up after launching a program from card:
- Find the first card which contains the program
- Delete all files with the program's CreatorID from internal memory if they also exist in
\PALM\Launcher on the card
A few points to note:
- 5NL does not remember which disk you actually selected a program on, it will launch it wherever it can find it
- A copy of an application on internal memory will always take priority over the same program on card even if the version is lower
- Any files which an application needs to modify on the internal memory should not also be placed on the external card, otherwise the internal memory version will be discarded when the program exits
